Hello Everyone,
Where do the months go? Who can remember the terrible wet winter and spring we had – or has the memory been erased by the last couple of weeks of sun. We don’t accept any complaining about the heat!
Our outside tables & umbrellas and shade tent have been put to great use – from tables of 2 to lunches for 20. It has been busy so please make sure you book ahead if you would like to join us for lunch.
Compton McRae News
The catering arm of Compton McRae continues to grow – from canape parties to Saturday lunches, 21sts and weddings. We have been joined by new chef Tom Elcombe (he is known at Compton McRae as TommE so there is no confusion), who is enabling us to expand our catering offerings while continuing the lunches at the shop.
Many of you this summer have been collecting ready-made canapes. We offer a range that is simple to prepare and present at home but will have your guests raving about. Anything from 10 to 70 people – just give us a call to run through it. We are also able to provide bar and wait staff to make your event stress free – or even someone to come and help with the washing up so you can enjoy your evening as much as your guests.
Our ready-made meal range is also available every week (both fresh and frozen). The hottest dish at the moment is our Coronation chicken – if you need it for a particular event, please pre order to avoid missing out!
Tokes Farm
We are now stocking a great range of organic vegetables from Tokes Farm – we use all the Tokes produce in our salads and light lunches but also have enough for you to take home. Come in and have a look at what we have each day.
COMPTON COFFEE RUN
3rd Sunday of every month
This event continues to grow run to run. Please come along (with or without your car!)
8:00am-10:30am for Compton Coffee and bacon baps!

Julia’s House Fundraising Evening
Julia’s House is a Wiltshire/Dorset charity and it is not a typical children’s hospice. They provide practical and emotional support for families caring for a child with a life-limiting or life-threatening condition, providing frequent and regular support in their own homes, in the community or at their hospices. Julia’s house currently utilises the upstairs room at Compton McRae – holding monthly nurse and administrative meetings. It allows them to have a central spot between the two counties.
It is also a charity very close to my heart – my nephew Gussie had severe cerebral palsy, and he required constant care. In Australia, organisations like Julia’s House provided Gussie and my brothers family with amazing support and care.
In November, Caroline and I will be undertaking a charity walk with Julia’s house in Jordan – walking to Petra. The stunning and remote trek will take us on an adventure following an ancient Bedouin migration route to Petra, experiencing some of the most spectacular natural scenery in Jordan. The thought to do the walk came about with Caroline’s 60 walks for 60 years. In her 60th year Caroline is undertaking 60 significant walks and the walk to Petra will be one of the last 10 to complete her year.
On Thursday 19/9 we are hosting a dinner party at Compton McRae, with all proceeds going to Julia’s house.

Bread Dippers by Charlie & Ivy’s

We have everything you need for the perfect family fun supper. Emma Basic London’s range has everything from sushi rice, soy sauce, nori, bamboo mats and the rice vinegar. Compton McRae can provide the vegetables and meat.
Good Phats – new in today
We have added another olive oil to our range to cater for everyone’s olive oil needs! Good Phats doesn’t just have a very good looking olive oil bottle – it is an brand that follows science about saturated fat and who want to help reverse the prejudices that are locked into society about fats.
